ICGREEN 2012

Third International Conference on Green IT Solutions

2-3 July, 2012, Geneva, Switzerland

General Information

ICGREEN is an event of IICREST, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Collaboration and Research on Enterprise Systems and Technology. In 2010 and 2011, ICGREEN used to be par of the INNOV Multi-Conference co-organized by IICREST and INSTICC. Hence, it is for the first time that ICGREEN is an event on its own and this stimulates us to work for very high scientific quality of ICGREEN in 2012. The focus we take is on the role of information systems and technologies in enabling sustainable solutions with respect to environment. The scientific areas of interest to the conference are in the following directions: (i) Energy-efficient networking and computing; (ii) Smart IT solutions for green applications.

Some of the most powerful ways of influencing real-life processes towards being greener concern IT-related triggers. This is not surprising in the era of information when almost any human activity relates to corresponding supportive IT system(s). For this reason, intervening at this level is expected to be effective. IT solutions may include ways to push individuals for using less resources, to optimize the work of technical equipments, to raise information awareness, and so on. ICGREEN 2012 is addressing these challenges, by considering a large number of research topics: from more abstract ones, such as conceptual IT models on how areas could optimize energy consumption, to more technical ones, such as traffic monitoring and recommendations, from topics that concern the computing domain itself to topics that touch upon usage of IT solutions in pushing for greener real-life processes.
